Throughout chapter 10 of One and Done, I think there are a lot of different themes in the book but to me, the theme that I can't stop thinking about is injustice. The entire chapter,. Maurice had problems with Andy Geiger because Maurice called him a lair but no one wanted to do anything about it. Once his car got broken into he was told to file a police report, which later on, they accused him of filing a false police report. This upset Clarett badly as he says, "I got the car from a guy who repossessed the car and the CDs were with a bunch of stuff in the back seat when I picked it up. I never cared they got taken and for sure didn't intentionally file a false police report about them" (Clarett 152). But the NCAA did, what it felt like from reading this chapter, and extensive investigation on Maurice. He told the investigators everything he did and all of the understanding he knew up to this point. I think the writing is at it's best from when he went to court and sat across from Archie Griffin, and he knew Archie sold him out and he wasn't going to just sit there while he was fuming with anger. "Powerful people expect powerless kids to go away with their tails between their legs but not me" (Clarett 159). I think that's a powerful line in the book because it showed how Maurice wasn't going to back down from Archie, Geiger, or the attorneys because he knows his truth, whether they believed him or not.

Besides my Mother, another person that had a significant influence on me was my Acting coach from years ago. I don't remember her name but, she made me feel confident in my choices on stage and constantly encouraged me to make big choices both on the stage and in real life and don't regret my choices, that if it is a bad choice, try your hardest to make it right and if you can't, that it's in the past and focus on my future. She told me to never give up on my dreams no matter how hard the path of life gets. And I still use that to this current day. She told me so many times that Acting could be my calling because I shine when I step into a character's life and forget my own when I know a script. And I always think of her when I become my own critic, which is often! But she is definitely someone I will never forget and always cherish.

  1. I definitely saw the theme of injustice ass well in this chapter. It's very evident when the fact that his care got broken into had led to him being kicked off of the Buckeyes. I think where you thought the writing was at its best spoke volumes too. He's used to being put down because of where he's from and how he grew up, but he is standing up to very influential people. Acting is something not a lot of people can do, but you sound very good at it! How old were you when you started acting? I'm glad you had someone in your life to encourage you and make you feel like you shine when you do something you love.
