In One and Done, a central theme in chapter 10 was that someone broke into his car and stole items that weren’t his. When he made an insurance claim apparently he undervalued the items that had gotten stolen and this caused problems. The other important theme is how he dealt with that happening. Clarett claims that having a role model could’ve helped him do better with dealing with his situation. Clarett stated “At some point, they told me they were suspending me “indefinitely” and I didn’t even know what “indefinitely” meant”(Clarett 159). This in my mind, puts into perspective where he was at intelligently at that time. If he had a role model things could’ve turned out different.
During my freshman year of high school my friend started lifting and he invited me to join him. His brother made his programs for him so I followed whatever my friend was doing. When I met his brother I realized this guy was as strong as an elephant. After that I wanted to get more into lifting and I did. He got me to continue lifting and doing that kept me from getting into trouble mostly because I spent my time eating, lifting or sleeping. To this day both of these guys are my friends and they both inspire me to lift and get stronger.
I had a friend who was two grades higher than me. He was part of the football team and was in my fitness class. We had a great time together. He taught me some of the basics of fitness.
