Someone that I know that has a lot of passion for their work is one of my coworkers. He works with me at Valvoline. He has a lot of passion for his job. It’s evident by the way he talks with customers and how he sets cleaning standards for us. When he talks with customers he never lies to them and he gives his honest opinion about what he thinks is right or not. He’s also earned the name “discount king” because he tries to give people the best deal. I think his passion for this job comes from his compassion as a person. He likes to see people happy, and he also enjoys seeing the different assortment of vehicles that come around.
I believe the introduction from Callings was put in the book to show how he got the idea for this book, as well as how he found his calling. I learned that you’ll know when you find your calling because you’ll have passion for what you do. According to Dave Isay, it also takes a “tremendous amount of hard work” to find your true calling (Isay 14). If I want to find my calling then I’ll have to put in the work to get it.
My favorite job that was mentioned in the four profiles was probably the bridgetender. Her name was Barbara Abelhauser, and she got tired of her old job. Her last job was working at an office and she got tired with all of the extra content that came with it (Isay 17). As a bridgetender she loves a lot of aspects of her job from the animals that come around to the everyday people that she sees. You can really feel the passion for her job when she said “I want to have woken up that day and not thought, Ugh, I don’t want to go to work” (Isay 21). Being able to truthfully say that about your job is truly amazing. Most people don’t enjoy their day to day job, and being able to enjoy your job everyday is truly amazing. At the bottom here is a picture of a Bridgetender house.

Hi Grant, I didn't choose the bridgetender as my favorite profile but I still loved reading about it. To me I feel like I would never enjoy a job like that but to see how someone is able to have that much passion and purpose in their job astonishes me and it made me want to be able to have that motivation in anything I do.
