Lofi Life Blues
Rain drumming on the roof of the tin can that is my
girlfriend’s car,
trying to find its way, rushing to settle down,
running its way down the windshield, roving the lands in
large grey buses,
then falling to the ground with a recognizable Reverb.
Like the speakers in the warm cozy car back seat, carrying
its occupants to sleep, with slow waves of memorable lullabies,
as I inhale the smell of moisture in the air,
with the taste of Zambia Bing Cherry on my lips.
Carried away by the brown hair, black leggings, and blue eyes.
The familiar phrase “Wow awkward” always comes to mind,
suddenly the beats stop, and my heart does too.
Staying with you until I can slow down and dream again.
About the days we spent in the parking lots, buying time on
meters with change,
a real change that would change our changing hearts and minds.
While we watched the world roll past through the car windshield,
under a blanket of stars and sky till the moon rolls by.
I wish to dream the dream again where lofi life blues reign
supreme,
listening to the sweet whisper of that new ole tune.
