Snapshot three

The One Who Is There

The one who is there.

The one whos warmth I felt when I entered this world,

The one who instantly shadowed me with her protection

If she was my guard and I was her king.

As I grew older her words ingrain in me,

“I'll never let you go.”

She never let love leave.

The one who taught me how to read and write,

The one who taught me how to stand up for myself,

The one who pushed me deeper into my endeavors and told me not to quit.

She will never stop providing and letting go.

The endless meals and clothes she's provided we'll never be forgotten.

Even when I grow old she will always have a place in me.

The one who is, my mother.

  1. My favorite line in this poem was when you said "She never let love leave." in the second stanza. It was a really good use of alliteration and I could understand what you meant. I think about that line and then also think about those whose moms weren't present. I couldn't imagine but I could understand the disconnect they may feel, and this just spoke to me about how truly great my mom is as well.

  2. This is very powerful, clearly you and your mother have a very good bond and I really like the line she never let love leave this is showing me that no matter what she is always be there for you even if you do something bad she will love and continue to love you.

  3. I loved how it is expressed in your poem, the love you have for your Mother. I really like the line where you said, "She will never stop providing and letting go". I think that is very good because it tells us, that our Mother's love us all. Very awesome Joseph!

  4. I like this poem since it is kind of like The Lanyard. Your mothers will do anything for you. You and your mom have a strong bond and don't let anything break that since it's probably the most important bond for many people. Nice job Joseph
