My Name
My name is Grant. Grant is my name given to me at birth. My great grandfather wanted me to be named Paul after him, but my parents said no because he was a vain person. After all that I ended up with the name Grant and I plan to keep it.
My parents and my older sister always tried coming up with different nicknames for me. Simply because we did that for every one of my other siblings. My older sister's nickname is Whit, and her full name is Whitney. My younger sister's nickname is Rie, but her full name is O’riley. My brother's nickname is Yakub, and his actual name is Jacob. Me on the other hand with an already short name there was much to do with it to shorten it down more. My dad came up with many names hoping one would stick. A couple of them were; G, G-man, and G-mer. I am certain that there is more but that is all I can remember. I know that my older sister would always call me “G-blo”, and it always upset me when she did. I remember that I didn’t like that nickname. After all of those attempts at nicknames for me, everyone eventually settled on calling me G for the most part.
If my name were to have a hidden meaning I wouldn’t know it. Although that doesn’t mean that I can't give it a meaning myself. If I had to give it a hidden meaning I would say that people with the name “Grant” are like a wallflower. They are there, but they like to blend in and are good at doing so. I’d also say that they are also similar to a river. Calm and going with the flow of everyone and everything else. So yes. Something like Grant will do.
Hello Grant! I think its very cool how every one in your family has their own nickname. For you I think G is one of the only nicknames you could have for that name. I also like the comparisons that you made at the end to a river and wallpaper. I agree with you on that every Grant I know is pretty relaxed and goes with the flow. I was great reading your snapshot
ReplyDeleteHello Grant. I enjoyed getting to learn about your name and all the nicknames your family tried to give you. I think G is a simple nickname and fits you well. I like how you gave your name a meaning that you believe fits you and your personality well. I find it unique how you compared the meaning of your name to a wallflower and river.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed getting to know more about.
I have a nickname from my sister and parents but it has no relation to my name, only to my hair color and personality.
