Journal Two
Hello classmates! My name is Haily Simeral and I'm originally from Mentor, Ohio. It's a town about 30 minutes North of Downtown Cleveland. I am a graduate of Mentor High School. I used to play Fastpitch and Cross Country but growing up I sadly started not to play as much. Outside of working and school, I am an Actor and have been in a few plays and a few short films. I'm trying to break into it a little more but, it can be very difficult. I like to read books or write stories in my downtime. I don't ever show my writing to anyone, it kinda just relaxes me to write and to create something! I have 4 dogs and 1 cat. I know that sounds crazy but, my mom has 2 shit zus and a black cat, and my father has a cockapoo and a blue heeler!
What spoke to me the most in the story so far, would be the descriptive she is about her name. I never read something that talked about the main characters' names that extensively. She told us, readers, what her name was in English and in Spanish. To me, it seems like she doesn't really care for her name. She calls it a "Muddy color". It was her grandmothers name and she likes the name she was given but doesn't want to be like her grandmother. My favorite passage in the book this far would probably be when she speaks of her grandmother if she made the best out of what she had or if she was sorry because she couldn't be all the things she wanted to be. And that she inherited her name but doesn't want to inherit her seat by the window. I thought that was beautifully written.
Hello my name is Brianna. I live in Delaware, OH so kinda far from you. I don’t know the kind of bird I have she’s just really mean and small. I ran cross country also but I stopped running my Junior year. Also I loved the part about her name and how she described it and how in depth she went with it.
ReplyDeleteHi there Haily, it’s very nice to meet you! I hope we could properly introduce ourselves when we meet in class in person. I am writing a book as well! However, when I meet somebody, I just cannot hold in my urge to share with them the story I am writing and hear their feedback. I would like to hear your stories sometime if it is comfortable to you. I’m not much actor because I hate my voice. Also, I do not have the enthusiasm to do so. However, if there is a scene in my story that is dialogue driven, I would act it out privately or with my sister.

Hi, my name is Leeza and I enjoyed getting to learn a little bit about you. I've never heard of the town your from, but now I do. I have a lot of pets as well, I have two dogs and four cats. I agree with you about how descriptive Esperanza is, she's not only descriptive when talking about her name and the meaning of it, but also when she talks about her living situation and her family members. I look forward to reading other thoughts you have in this class!
